Job summary

Tech Inc. in Kansas is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help individuals live with dignity and independence.

Under supervision, you will deliver personal care, training and assessment aligned with PCSPs, with non-exempt status and no supervisory responsibilities. You will perform daily care tasks, assist with meals, transportation, and home safety, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support residents' goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bronze Level WORKready Certification preferred.
• One year of experience in the IDD field preferred.
• Ability to partner with staff and persons served; clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and reports progress on a daily basis and as required by the PCSP.
• Attend to the personal needs of each client in a timely and efficient manner, including feeding, restroom needs, dressing, medication administration and first aid needs.
• Assist clients with meal planning, food purchases, and meal preparation.
• Assist clients in maintaining a healthy living environment by following processes for facility or vehicle maintenance and safety concerns.
• Assist with and/or monitor housekeeping tasks in client residences.
• Transportation of clients via motor vehicle or arrange public transportation.
• Assist clients to develop social and communication skills while encouraging community integration.
• Constructively communicate inter-departmentally to ensure service delivery to clients.
• Participate as an active and contributing member of client's Person-Centered Support Plan team.

Under the supervision of a Team Leader and/or Manager this position provides personal care, training, supervision, and assessment to the individuals we serve as prescribed in Person-Centered Support Plans (PCSP) and agency policies. This position is non-exempt and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Specific duties are:

• Provides care and reports progress on a daily basis and as required by the PCSP
• Attend to the personal needs of each client in a timely and efficient manner. Such duties include: feeding, restroom needs, dressing, medication administration, and first aid needs.
• Assist clients with meal planning, food purchases, and meal preparation
• Assist clients in maintaining a healthy living environment by following processes in place for any facility or vehicle maintenance and addressing safety concerns
• Assists with and/or monitors all housekeeping tasks in client residences
• Transportation of clients via motor vehicle or assists with arranging public transportation.
• Assist clients to develop their social and communication skills while encouraging community integration.
• Constructively communicate inter-departmentally to ensure service delivery to clients.
• Participates as an active and contributing member of client's Person-Centered Support Plan team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required: High School Diploma or GED or Bronze Level, WORKready Certification

VARIETY WORK LOCATIONS AND HOURS

Direct Support Professionals work within various capacities, locations and hours of the day

• Residential DSP
  • Provides care to individuals within a home like environment. Employees schedules can be day hours, nighttime (awake) hours, weekdays and/or weekends. 24/7. Full time (30 or more hours a week) or part time (17.5 hours a week) schedules are available.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and to inside wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals as used in cleaning, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
