Job summary

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) – Finance, Technology and Analytics Administration seeks a Painter Supervisor to oversee the refinishing of interior and exterior surfaces on buildings, equipment, furnishings, and other structures. You will order required materials, tools, and supplies and develop work schedules to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license and two years of experience as a journey-level painter, including one year of experience as a lead painter or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lay out, direct, and inspect the work of a crew of painters, plasterers, masons, concrete workers, and temporary employees.
  • Ensure that all facility buildings, equipment, furnishings, and structures are repaired and maintained to meet operational and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise and train painters doing journey-level work.
  • This work includes painting, finishing, and refinishing exterior and interior surfaces of buildings, equipment, furnishings, and other structures.
  • Responsibilities also cover tile, concrete, fireproofing systems, and caulking.
  • Observe and evaluate the work performance of subordinate staff, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Write performance evaluations for subordinate staff and make hiring recommendations to the Facility Manager.
  • Propose alterations to existing facilities for preservation and or programmatic needs including preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates of cost.
  • Order materials to maintain the warehouse and shop stock.

Job description

The Department of Social and Health Services Finance, Technology and Analytics Administration (FTAA) is seeking a Painter Supervisor to oversee painters and other employees who refinish the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, equipment, furnishings and other structures. In this role, you will order required materials, tools, and supplies. As the supervisor, you will also develop work schedules and conduct performance and safety training plans.

Who are we looking for?

Professionals with a valid driver’s license and two years of experience as a journey-level painter, including one year of experience as a lead painter or equivalent.
