Maintenance Mechanic 2

We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as a journey-level tradesperson in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and operation within the Child Study Treatment Center, located at the Western State Hospital campus.

Description

As a member of the Finance, Technology and Analytics Administration (FTAA) within our Maintenance and Operations Division, you will assist the maintenance shop performing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs.

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team working at the Child Study Treatment Center.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Some of What You'll Do
  • Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; hospital, laboratory, and air conditioning equipment
  • Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution
  • Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating satisfactorily
  • Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance
  • Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment
  • Work from plans, sketches, or drawings
  • Estimate materials for completion of the job
What We Are Looking For
  • Ability to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Dress appropriately for the work, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills
Who should apply?
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • At least 4 years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade
