Job summary

Sherwin-Williams in Winter Haven, FL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to install, troubleshoot, repair and service production and facility equipment. The role focuses on ensuring safety, efficiency and uptime to support powder coatings production.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, electrical and mechanical repairs, and assisting with plant equipment installation. The position includes shift work on Sundays through Thursdays with a nightly 10 pm start and a $0.75/hour shift

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • At least 1 year experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing/distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Check and refill lubricant reservoirs; inspect machinery during preventative maintenance.
  • Operate shop tools and equipment related to maintenance.
  • Repair or replace defective components and assist in dismantling machinery.
  • Assist in electrical projects and perform minor electrical repairs.
  • Understand electrical diagrams and diagnose basic control circuits (115 VAC).
  • Assist in pipe fitting tasks and installation work.
  • Maintain and service HVAC, lighting, water and sewer systems.
  • Assist in installing new plant equipment and support other departments as needed.
  • Maintain production equipment to optimize uptime and safe operation.

Job Description

This position performs the necessary maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and production maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Additional Information
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
  • Shift Differential: $0.75 Per Hour
  • This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
  • Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.
Responsibilities
  • Checks and refills lubricant reservoirs, applies grease to lubricant points, inspects machinery while performing scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Operate shop tools, equipment, and as many machines related to maintenance as skill level will permit
  • Able to make some repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components
  • Assists in electrical projects and performs minor electrical repairs
  • Understands basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitry
  • Assists in pipe fitting tasks and able to perform some installation tasks unassisted
  • Perform certain portions of repairs to power industrial equipment, assists in rebuilding of related equipment
  • Maintains and services a range of building equipment such as HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc.
  • Assists in the installation of new plant equipment
  • Assists other departments as needed
  • Maintains production equipment in good operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime to insure the safe and timely manufacture of quality powder coatings.
  • Improved reliability and operating efficiency of plant equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to insure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Support site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a work place that is clean and safe.
  • Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have at least one (1) year of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have at least two (2) years of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Have an industrial, electrical, and/or welding certification or license
  • Have at least one (1) year of maintenance experience applying electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience implementing Programmable Logic Controls (\"PLC\")
