Job summary

The May Institute in Randolph, MA is seeking a Developmental Specialist (Classroom Lead) for our Adult Day Habilitation Program. You will support adults with Autism and developmental disabilities in a structured setting focused on skill building, independence, and social engagement.

Monday–Friday day shift; work closely with therapists, families and program staff to deliver meaningful, individualized support and promote participation in daily activities and outings.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and reliability for consistent support.
• Experience with individuals with special needs is preferred but not required.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and driving experience.

As a Developmental Specialist (Classroom Lead) in our Day Habilitation program, you’ll provide essential support in a structured, community-based setting that focuses on skill building, independence, and social engagement.

Your Impact

• Support individuals in achieving their personal goals through daily activities, group sessions, and community outings.
• Encourage participation in skill development areas such as communication, socialization, recreation, and vocational readiness.
• Promote independence and self-advocacy in a supportive, respectful, and empowering environment.
• Assist with personal care needs when necessary (meals, hygiene, mobility).
• Collaborate with program staff, therapists, and families to ensure meaningful and individualized support

What You Need

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid and current U.S. driver’s license (1+ year of licensed driving experience).
• Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and adaptability.
• Experience supporting individuals with special needs (preferred but not required).
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
