Job summary

Fl-Crane- is seeking a Drywall Mechanic to measure, cut, and install drywall while maintaining a clean work area. You will read plans, cut to fit, and fasten panels with nails or screws in interior spaces.

The role requires 3+ years of drywall experience, ability to read blueprints, and willingness to travel with overnight stays. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork on job sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean work area and protects surroundings from damage.
• Measures and marks cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim.
• Identifies window, outlet, and plumbing locations to cut drywall precisely.
• Cuts drywall to size with utility knives and power saws.
• Fastens drywall panels to studs using nails or screws.
• Fills joints and holes with compound; smooths edges for neat joints.
• Prepares surfaces for material applications; may work with metal studs.

Job description

The Drywall Mechanic is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing drywall while maintaining a clean work area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean work area and protects structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage.
• Reading design plans and/or Blueprints in order to provide minimal wallboard to avoid unnecessary waste of materials
• Measuring and marking cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim using tape measure, straightedge, or square, and marking devices
• Identifying the exact locations of windows, electrical outlets, and plumbing, and then cutting the drywall or ceiling tile to fit the precise size needed
• Cutting drywall to the right size, using utility knives and power saws
• Fastening drywall panels to interior wall studs, using nails or screws
• Filling joints, holes, and cracks with compound, using a trowel and broad knife
• Trimming and smoothing rough edges so boards join evenly without visual defect
• Mixing compound to desired consistency
• Cleaning and preparing surfaces for applications of materials, such as by drywall taping.
• At times may work with metal studs.
• Assembles and installs metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents as needed.
• Installs horizontal and vertical metal or studs for attachment of wallboard on interior walls, using hand tools as needed.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• High school diploma GED (preferred)
• 3+ years of drywall experience (required )
