Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years of drywall experience (required).
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred).
• Reading and interpreting design plans/blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean work area and protects structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage.
• Reading design plans and/or blueprints to minimize wallboard waste.
• Measuring and marking cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim.
• Identifying locations of windows, outlets, and plumbing to cut drywall to fit.
• Cutting drywall to size with knives and saws.
• Fastening drywall panels to studs with nails or screws.
• Filling joints, holes, and cracks with compound and smoothing edges.
• Assembles and installs metal framing and decorative trim for openings as needed.
• Installs wallboards on interior walls using hand tools.

Summary

• - Maintains a clean work area and protects structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage.
• - Reading design plans and/or Blueprints in order to provide minimal wallboard to avoid unnecessary waste of materials
• - Measuring and marking cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim using tape measure, straightedge, or square, and marking devices
• - Identifying the exact locations of windows, electrical outlets, and plumbing, and then cutting the drywall or ceiling tile to fit the precise size needed
• - Cutting drywall to the right size, using utility knives and power saws
• - Fastening drywall panels to interior wall studs, using nails or screws
• - Filling joints, holes, and cracks with compound, using a trowel and broad knife
• - Trimming and smoothing rough edges so boards join evenly without visual defect
• - Mixing compound to desired consistency
• - Cleaning and preparing surfaces for applications of materials, such as by drywall taping.
• - At times may work with metal studs.
• - Assembles and installs metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents as needed.
• - Installs horizontal and vertical metal or studs for attachment of wallboard on interior walls, using hand tools as needed.
