Summit Reconstruction & Restoration in Oregon is seeking an experienced Drywall Installer to join our Restoration department. This role focuses on installing, repairing, finishing, and restoring drywall systems across residential, multifamily, and commercial projects, including occupied properties.

You will work closely with project managers, carpenters, and other crew members to deliver safe, high-quality results on time.

Position Summary (Job Overview)

Summit Reconstruction & Restoration is seeking an experienced Drywall Installer to join our Restoration department. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, finishing, and restoring drywall systems as part of residential, multifamily, and commercial restoration and reconstruction projects.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with drywall installation and repair and is comfortable working in occupied properties, active construction environments, and restoration projects involving water, fire, structural, or other property damage.

The Drywall Installer will work closely with project managers, restoration personnel, carpenters, subcontractors, and other field team members to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Summit's standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall panels on walls and ceilings.
  • Install drywall using screws, nails, adhesives, and other approved fastening methods.
  • Repair damaged drywall resulting from water, fire, demolition, construction defects, or other property damage.
  • Perform drywall patches ranging from small repairs to full wall and ceiling replacement.
  • Tape joints and apply joint compound to seams, fasteners, corners, and repairs.
  • Sand and prepare finished surfaces for texture, primer, and paint.
  • Match existing wall and ceiling textures when performing restoration and repair work.
  • Install and finish corner bead and other drywall accessories.
  • Inspect framing and installation areas before hanging drywall and communicate deficiencies or concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Protect surrounding finishes, flooring, furniture, and occupied areas before beginning work.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the project.
  • Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, drywall lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment.
  • Follow company safety procedures and all applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate work with other trades to maintain project schedules and minimize delays.
  • Communicate material needs, site conditions, additional damage, and potential scope changes to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain professional conduct when working in occupied homes, multifamily communities, commercial properties, and client facilities.
  • Assist with other restoration and reconstruction activities when reasonably required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on project and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous professional drywall installation, repair, or finishing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure, cut, hang, patch, tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall.
  • Knowledge of common drywall materials, fasteners, joint compounds, tapes, corner beads, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to perform drywall repairs and blend new work into existing finished surfaces.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools commonly used in drywall installation and construction.
  • Ability to read measurements accurately and perform basic construction calculations.
  • Ability to identify workmanship issues and complete work with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a construction/restoration team.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project sites.
  • Ability to travel to various project locations throughout the Portland metropolitan area and other Oregon/Washington locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing drywall work in the restoration or insurance-repair industry.
  • Experience with water- and fire-damage reconstruction.
  • Experience matching existing drywall textures.
  • Experience working in multifamily and commercial properties.
  • Experience with both drywall hanging and finishing.
  • Basic carpentry or general construction experience.
  • OSHA or other construction safety training.
Physical Requirements
  • Experience performing drywall work in the restoration or insurance-repair industry.
