Job summary

NOVO Health Services is seeking a Folder to manage hand-folding and stacking of linen coming from washing and ironing. The role requires careful handling, adherence to safety, and coordination with teammates to prepare items for transport through the production line.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach and stack items for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push/pull carts up to 100 pounds.

POSITION TITLE: Folder

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

REPORTS TO: Team Leader and Plant Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Folder is responsible for directing and managing Hand Folders in taking the items as they come out of the washer or ironer and hand fold, stack, and place them on the appropriate cart for transporting to the next stage of the process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Remove product from the previous process.
• Identify through previous job knowledge how many items per stack.
• Pull cart over to work area, adjusting the cart so that linen is at a comfortable waist level.
• Ensure items are folded and place on the appropriate cart or table.
• For larger items, there may be group folding.
• Each folding partner grabs the lengthwise end of the item.
• The partners step back and make a lengthwise fold in the item.
• One person places it on the cart or table, in stacks of three or five, based on item.
• Fill up the cart in a like manner.
• Monitor items and work area to ensure all quality and safety standards are meet.
• Understand, observe, and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Assist and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Education, GED and formal education / training preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or service industry
• Demonstrated customer service and organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a noisy fast paced environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and stack individual items from machine for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to push or pull a cart that may weigh 100 pounds.
