Job summary

Interfor Fayette, AL is hiring a Dry Kiln Operator for night shift to maintain production flow, monitor kiln performance, and ensure product quality while upholding safety standards.

The role offers an hourly range of $20.76–$27.32 with a $1.85 shift differential and eligibility for the Gain Share Bonus program; weekend/holiday shifts may be required.

Ideal candidates are safety-minded, dependable, and able to operate a bobcat and boiler software, with strong teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
• Must be a team player.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to operate a bobcat to load fuel onto feed fuel chains.
• Must be willing and able to learn the boiler computer database system.
• Must be able to respond in emergency situations and go through the proper emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Keep fuel to the fire boxes and clean out fire boxes on set schedule.
• Maintain water level in boilers.
• Operate a bobcat to load fuel onto feed fuel chains.
• Communicate on a daily basis with kiln operators.
• Perform water treatment and analysis.
• Complete Moisture Content Analysis to ensure correct moisture levels.
• Document in the boiler log any adjustments made to boiler controls and/or unusual events.
• Complete all checklists.
• Accurately maintain daily downtime reports.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties.
• Participate in quarterly boiler system cleanout.
• Assist maintenance workers with preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Ensure compliance with EPA policies.
• Adhere to all safety policies and perform tasks safely.
• Work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and long shifts during shutdown.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout safety rules.
• Attend weekly safety meetings.
• Perform any assigned duties or tasks as directed by a manager/supervisor.

This is a Night Shift position with a pay range of $20.76 to $27.32 per hour, based on skill level, qualifications, and experience, plus a $1.85 per hour shift differential. Employees are also eligible for our quarterly Gain Share Bonus program, which rewards team performance and operational success.

What You’ll Do

• Work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and long shifts during shutdown.
  
• Adhere to all safety regulations especially lockout/tagout.
  
• Attend weekly safety meetings.
  
• Perform any assigned duties or task as directed by a manager/ supervisor.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the shift.

• Ability to work around heat, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
