Job summary

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced drum instructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music in Prairie Village, KS. In-person teaching is required, with Wednesday nights 3-9pm as primary hours. Experience with group classes is highly beneficial and valuable to the team.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and falls in the $24–$28/hour range. A 401(k) with employer matching is available after 90 days, and health benefit packages are offered for part- and full-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance preferred.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience; group teaching a plus.
• Performance experience in both individual and ensemble settings.
• Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, listening).
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient using technology including computers, mobile devices, browsers and online apps.
• Punctuality, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a routine background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).

About the Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional drum instructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music, Prairie Village locations. We are looking for teachers who will instruct in person. Teachers are primarily needed for Wednesday nights between 3-9pm. Ability to instruct Group Classes is highly beneficial.

General teacher duties include:

• Teaching private lessons in a way that builds on the strengths and interests of the student.
• Leading group classes through the Music House curriculum.
• Attending monthly faculty meetings.
• Assisting with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicating and interacting with parents, fellow teaching faculty, and administrative staff.
• Tracking student attendance and maintaining detailed teaching notes.
• Signing students up for and preparing them for group and individual performances.
• Creating and/or following lesson plans and teaching guides.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance is preferred.

This posting is for Music House School of Music, our Prairie Village and Overland Park, KS locations. Music House teachers are members of a team of over 25 teachers and 10 administrators who work collectively toward the development of a strong organization. With three locations and around 700 weekly students, this approach has served us well. However, our team-focused communal environment can seem very different for anyone with prior experience independently teaching private lessons. Music House is a place of growth, collaboration, and constant change.
