Job summary

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced drum instructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music locations in Prairie Village, KS. The role is in-person with Wednesday nights 3-9pm, and group classes are a plus.

You will join a team of teachers delivering Music House curriculum and supporting student performances. The ideal candidate has a music education or performance degree, at least one year of teaching, strong communication, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance preferred.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience; group teaching a plus.
• Performance experience in solo and ensemble settings.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with technology and online tools.
• Punctuality, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach private lessons in a way that builds on student strengths and interests.

• Assist with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).

About the Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional drum i nstructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music, Prairie Village locations. We are looking for teachers who will instruct in person. Teachers are primarily needed for Wednesday nights between 3-9pm. Ability to instruct Group Classes is highly beneficial.

General teacher duties include:

• Teaching private lessons in a way that builds on the strengths and interests of the student.
• Leading group classes through the Music House curriculum.
• Attending monthly faculty meetings.
• Assisting with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicating and interacting with parents, fellow teaching faculty, and administrative staff.
• Tracking student attendance and maintaining detailed teaching notes.
• Signing students up for and preparing them for group and individual performances.
• Creating and/or following lesson plans and teaching guides.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance is preferred.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience. Group teaching experience a plus.
• Performance experience in both an individual and ensemble setting.
• Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking and listening).
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient using technology including but not limited to computers, mobile devices, internet browsers, and various online applications.
• Appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $24-$28/hour. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all of our employees after 90 days on the job. Health benefit packages are available for all part- and full-time employees at Ensemble.

This posting is for Music House School of Music, our Prairie Village and Overland Park, KS locations. Music House teachers are members of a team of over 25 teachers and 10 administrators who work collectively toward the development of a strong organization. With three locations and around 700 weekly students, this approach has served us well. However, our team-focused communal environment can seem very dierent for anyone with prior experience independently teaching private lessons. Music House is a place of growth, collaboration, and constant change.
