Job summary

Ensemble Schools is seeking a drum instructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music, Prairie Village and Overland Park, KS locations. The role is in-person, with Wednesday nights between 3-9pm, and includes private lessons and group classes.

Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum 1 year teaching experience; strong communication and organizational skills; pay is $24-$28 per hour with a 401(k) match after 90 days and health benefits for part- and full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance preferred.
• At least 1 year teaching experience; group teaching a plus.
• Performance experience in both individual and ensemble settings.
• Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, listening).
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient using technology including computers, mobile devices and online apps.
• Punctuality, reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Teaching private lessons building on student strengths and interests.
• Leading group classes through the Music House curriculum.
• Attending monthly faculty meetings.
• Assisting with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicating with parents, fellow staff and admin.
• Tracking student attendance and maintaining teaching notes.
• Signing students up for group and individual performances.
• Creating and following lesson plans and teaching guides.
