Job summary

You will answer questions, suggest products, stock and label merchandise, monitor dates and safety procedures, and support a fast-paced team in a high-energy store setting.

Qualifications

• Retail experience required or preferred.
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a retail environment.
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
• Knowledge of basic math for transactions and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Know products well and be able to respond to questions and suggest items.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of specials and promotions.
• Recommend items to meet customers’ needs and preferences.
• Review sell-by dates and take appropriate action as needed.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and present-prompt customer service.
• Stay current with ads and promotions (seasonal and special).
• Support safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Assist with equipment inspection and maintenance, notifying management of repairs.
• Report accidents involving customers or employees as needed.
• Escalate safety risks or illegal activity to management.
• Handle high-paced, sometimes stressful environments cooperatively.
• Resolve customer and business issues by following directions and seeking help when necessary.
• Support interactions with minors, customers with special needs, and older adults in provided services.
