Job summary

Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) is seeking a Patient Intake Coordinator for Specialty Pharmacy to support patients, caregivers and providers in navigating insurance benefits for injectable therapies.

Works under the Pharmacy - Medical Benefit Authorization team on a per diem schedule, ensuring timely prior authorizations, payer submissions, and coordination of care across hospital, home infusion, and pharmacy access points.

Qualifications

• Requires at least five years of experience with insurance billing and reimbursement.
• Experience in healthcare settings preferred (physician practice, patient assistance program, or similar).
• Knowledge of private payer, Medicare and Medicaid structures and specialty pharmacy/retail processes.
• Ability to review patient insurance benefits and validate prior authorization requirements.
• Strong communication and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Review patient insurance benefits to navigate drug access barriers.
• Submit prior authorization documentation based on payer policies.
• Coordinate patients to appropriate site of care to ensure timely prescription access.
• Liaise with providers and patient support services to facilitate therapy access.
• Assist in managing data reports related to reimbursement and drug access services.
• Support Medicare payment policy interpretation and payer audits.
