Job summary

i3 Broadband LLC is seeking a Burial Technician to bury service drop cables for residential and commercial customers. You will work outdoors across construction and maintenance crews on an underground fiber optics network, ensuring safe burial, restoration, and collaboration with customers and contractors.

The role emphasizes teamwork, detailed outdoor work, and the ability to train and adapt in a fast-paced environment. A valid driver's license and willingness to overtime are required.

Qualifications

• No formal education requirements; hands-on aptitude preferred.
• Landscaping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bury fiber optic cable lines 6" to 24" deep using hand trenching or drop plows with boring capabilities.
• Read and understand existing underground facility location information.
• Identify and locate unmarked utilities.
• Eliminate risk of injury or damage.
• Restore job site to its original condition, including landscaping.
• Review services with the customer before installation of new lines.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, customers, and contractors regarding burial, restoration, and landscaping.
• Work with the burial crew leader to maintain production cadence.

Job Summary

Burial Technicians are responsible for carefully and efficiently burying service drop cables for our residential and commercial customers as well as teaming with i3 Broadband construction and maintenance crews on other miscellaneous projects on the underground fiber optics network.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Bury fiber optic cable lines 6\" to 24\" deep using hand trenching or drop plows with boring capabilities.
• Read and understand existing underground facility location information.
• Identify and locate unmarked utilities.
• Actively identify and eliminate risk of injury or damage.
• Restore job site, including landscaping to the original condition.
• Review all requested and existing services with the customer before installation of new lines.
• Communicate in a thorough and professional manner with homeowners, customers, and other contractors regarding cable burials, restoration, and light landscaping.
• Work closely with drop burial crew leader to establish and maintain efficient daily and weekly production of cable burials.

Education/Experience

• No prior experience is necessary, however any demonstrated interest or aptitude for hands-on work, physical work, or working with cable or electrical components is preferred.
• Landscaping experience is also highly preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work outdoors, and in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
