Job summary

Unusual Machines in Orlando, FL is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing of high-performance drone components. You will work on the floor with operators and engineers to improve throughput, quality, and uptime while scaling operations for enterprise and defense applications.

The role requires a data-driven problem solver with Lean/Six Sigma experience, capable of creating SOPs and supporting NPI and automation initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Experience creating SOPs and standardized work instructions.
  • Previous experience working on 3rd shift is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for drone components and assemblies.
  • Analyze workflows to improve throughput, yield, and cycle times.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues on the floor.
  • Lead Lean continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, process flows, and docs.
  • Balance and validate production lines with teams.
  • Monitor KPIs: scrap, downtime, OEE, first-pass yield.
  • Support NPI and scale-up activities.
  • Collaborate across Quality, Supply Chain, Production, Engineering.
  • Identify automation and poka-yoke opportunities.
  • Train operators and technicians on new processes.
  • Implement semi-automated/automated equipment.
