Job summary

The City of Thornton is hiring a Park Maintenance Specialist to maintain parks, open space, trails, and municipal grounds. You will work outdoors with an early start and play a key role in turf, arboriculture, and irrigation tasks, supporting a close-knit team in a dynamic city setting.

Ideal candidates have a solid background in grounds maintenance, a valid Colorado driver’s license, and a willingness to learn, adapt to weather, and contribute to community spaces that residents and visitors

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in park/open space/grounds maintenance preferred.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, open space, trails, and municipal grounds.
• Operate mowing, irrigation, and related grounds maintenance equipment.
• Train and supervise seasonal staff; lead work tasks as needed.
• Adapt schedules for snow events and varying weather.
