Job summary

Service Robot Co. in San Diego is hiring a field service drone technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing drones and docking stations at customer sites. This contract role is paid per work order, with paid on-site travel and remote support available.

You will diagnose faults, replace components, update firmware, and document repairs while communicating clearly with customers. Training and industry certifications are provided.

The role

Install, maintain, and repair drones and their docking and charging stations at customer sites.

What you will do

• Diagnose faults in drones, docks, and charging systems.
• Repair or replace propellers, motors, electronic speed controllers, batteries, gimbals, and cameras.
• Update firmware and calibrate equipment.
• Complete scheduled maintenance and inspections.
• Follow lithium battery procedures for storage, charging, transport, and disposal.
• Record faults, repairs, replacement parts, and follow-up work.
• Keep spare parts available and report recurring problems.
• Explain repairs and next steps to customers.

What we are looking for

• Experience with electronics repair, RC or FPV drone building, avionics, low-voltage systems, or similar hands-on work.
• Patience with small parts and precise repairs.
• A methodical approach to finding faults.
• Accurate records and clear communication.
• Comfort working independently at customer sites.
• Availability to drive, work outdoors, and travel overnight occasionally.

Training

You will complete an online course through our Service Robot Co. Academy, followed by in-person training and the industry certifications needed for this role. Training and certifications are free for selected candidates. Your first job is paid, with a specialist supporting you remotely.
