Job summary

State of Nebraska is seeking a Temporary Driving Test Examiner in Bellevue, NE. This inhouse SOS Temporary Program role places you in a temporary assignment to conduct automobile drive tests and ensure applicants meet DMV requirements.

You will score tests, explain procedures, and uphold safety standards while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism during interactions with applicants. A Nebraska Driver's License and good driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity.
• Experience with motor vehicle law or DMV-related procedures is preferred.
• Regular and reliable attendance required; valid Nebraska Driver's License with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled automobile drive tests per Nebraska DMV procedures and scoring standards.
• Confirm applicants are authorized and eligible to take the drive test.
• Inspect test vehicle for required equipment and basic safety.
• Explain drive-test procedures, expectations, and safety requirements.
• Observe and evaluate applicants’ ability to safely control and operate the vehicle.
• Assess compliance with traffic laws, signals, signs, and safe driving practices.
• Accurately score and document drive-test results; inform applicants of pass/fail and re-exam procedures.
• Maintain applicant confidentiality and testing records.
• Remain professional and impartial with nervous or difficult applicants.
• Perform additional duties within the scope of the position.
