Qualifications

  • Requires two years of college and one year of paraprofessional experience in dealing with laws, rules and regulations in a public or private organization.

Responsibilities

  • Receives felony and immediate action convictions, as well as notices of drivers who failed to appear to comply with a citation, from Illinois and foreign courts to review and process conviction reports for accuracy pursuant to Chapters 6, 11, and 12 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC) and authorize for entry to initiate appropriate sanctions, such as suspension, revocation, and disqualification (CDL drivers).
  • Drafts technical correspondence and/or answers routine and technical telephone inquiries from the public, facilities, legislators, courts, other sections and departments regarding the status of driving privileges, interpretation of items recorded to driving records, policies, procedures, and correction and/or update of driving records; compiles statistics for daily and weekly reports; testifies as to why action was or was not taken on a driving record if challenged or if technical explanation is needed in court.
  • Responsible for the authorization of the denial or invalidation of driving privileges based upon court order, voluntary surrender, Graduated Driver’s License sanctions or notification from the Secretary of State Police pursuant to Chapter 6 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC).
  • On a rotating basis, works on the facility hotline by performing a variety of complex paraprofessional work in the review and analysis of records and documents to determine the status of driving privileges in accordance with Chapters 6, 7, 11, and 12 of the Illinois Compiles Statutes, where provisions are ambiguous and require interpretation and use of independent judgment, as well as to determine appropriate action in order to respond to telephone inquiries from facility personnel; updates driving records through information received from facility personnel to clear actions taken such as suspensions, revocations, cancellations, invalidations, denials and reinstatement of driving privileges; instructs facility personnel of proper proof required to authorize such sanctions.
