Summary

A CDL driver’s job involves safely operating emergency vehicles, driving back-and-forth to desired destinations, requiring adherence to traffic laws, performing vehicle inspections, maintaining logs (hours, mileage, fuel), planning routes, and ensuring timely, secure deliveries while handling related paperwork. Key duties center on safety, compliance (DOT), efficient logistics, and vehicle upkeep for long-haul or local routes. Drivers will often provide additional assistance to fabrication shop, body shop, and EVT technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Driving & Safety: Operate heavy trucks, follow traffic laws (DOT regulations), and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Route & Logistics: Plan routes using maps/GPS, and manage fuel needs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs (Hours of Service), mileage, delivery receipts, and any additional paperwork.
  • Communication: Effectively relay status updates, issues, and delays to supervisors and customers.
Essential Qualifications
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the specific vehicle class.
  • Strong eyesight, and hearing.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions.
  • Familiarity with GPS.
