Summary: The Driver / Warehouse Associate is responsible for the delivery of merchandise to and from customers, vendors, and other O’Connor branches or locations, as directed, with the use of a company vehicle. This role processes, handles, ships, receives, transfers, stocks, picks, and pulls products for customers and vendors for all incoming or outgoing merchandise and freight. This role works in all departments within the warehouse related to product incoming and outgoing tasks. Additionally, this role is responsible for excellence in customer service, the proper use of company tools, vehicles, and equipment, as well as adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
The Responsibilities
Customer Interaction
- Provides excellent customer service through timely customer interaction, problem resolution or escalation with effective and efficient follow-up.
- Addresses customers politely and professionally in a courteous manner, even in situations that may become difficult or tense.
- Promptly responds to customer inquiries via phone, email, or fax with courtesy in a professional demeanor.
- Establishes and maintains professional business dealings with customers and vendors at all times.
- Conducts personal interactions with customers representative of a company with strong, ethical standards.
- Supports valued business relationships in all dealings with related departments aiming to resolve customer and other issues in a timely manner. Approaches peers and customers with a spirit of positive problem resolution.

Driving
- Responsible for safe, timely, accurate, and efficient product deliveries.
- Delivers and transfers merchandise to and from customers, vendors, branch locations, or other locations as directed by their supervisor.
- Responsible for accurately checking all products as loaded and/or unloaded by the driver against the delivery paperwork.
- Report any delays to the supervisor during the day.
- Responsible for checking in periodically with the supervisor while on the road.
- Follow all procedures related to deliveries, including driver logs, gas receipts, invoicing, collection of funds, accident/incident reporting, returns, etc.
- Confers with supervisor before departure on payment methods for COD orders.
- Secure all products in the vehicle properly to prevent shifting or damage prior to and during deliveries.
- Carry a valid DOT Medical Certification card and Driver’s License at all times.
- Maintain the vehicle's good condition, perform regular maintenance, and report issues.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Use electronic devices proficiently, including mobile phones and GPS.
Warehouse
- Assist with general warehouse tasks, including shipping, receiving, transfers, unloading, and matching purchase orders.
- Move materials within the warehouse as designated.
- Organize products on racks or in bins.
- Prepare and distribute sales orders or transfers accurately and promptly.
- Maintain a clean and accessible warehouse environment.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, including pallet jacks and carts.
Inventory Control
- Mark products with identifying information.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Ensure accuracy in merchandise handling and reporting damages or discrepancies.
Safety
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Wear necessary safety gear.
- Ensure safe operation of handling equipment and during vehicle loading.
General
- Perform tasks following training and posted signage.
- Conduct basic vehicle and facility maintenance as needed.
- Check in with supervisor at start and end of each day.
Other
- Maintain alertness and safety in a safety-sensitive position.
- Proficiently use company computer systems and software.
- Perform other duties as assigned, with flexibility for organizational changes.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of driving, warehouse, or related experience.
- Satisfactory DMV report and insurability.
- Valid DOT certification and driver’s license for at least 1 year.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Strong numerical and mathematical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
- Work 7-10 hours/day, up to 43 hours/week.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Use vision, hearing, and manual dexterity for job functions.
