Job summary

Xylem seeks a Driver Technician to transport materials and perform field service at customer sites across assigned locations. You will troubleshoot systems, address safety issues, and communicate clearly with customers, with travel up to 20-80% depending on division.

You will operate DOT-regulated vehicles, support multiple sites, and work with electrical, mechanical, diesel, or fusion systems, applying sound technical judgment and teamwork to keep equipment and projects moving safely forward.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain Class A or B CDL with endorsements.
• Ability to obtain TWIC/DISA clearances and a DOT medical card.
• Clean driving record and 0–2 years technical work experience (1 year preferred).
• Ability to travel overnight and cross borders with passport.
• Technical experience in electrical, mechanical, diesel, or fusion work.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and smart devices; strong customer service.
• Strong problem-solving and clear communication; work with minimal supervision.

What your day will look like as a Driver Technician

You’ll transport materials and equipment between locations and perform field service work at customer sites. You’ll troubleshoot systems, identify and address safety issues involving company- and customer-owned equipment, and communicate directly with customers. Assignments may involve multiple sites and technologies. Critical thinking, safe work practices, and clear communication are essential. Depending on the division and location, the role may require frequent travel and overnight stays away from home.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with applicable endorsements.
• Ability to obtain required customer clearances, such as TWIC or DISA, and a DOT medical card.
• Clean driving record.
• 0-2 years of technical work experience; 1 year preferred.
• Ability to drive overnight and navigate difficult routes.
• Ability to cross borders and obtain a valid passport.
• Understanding of weight requirements and weight distribution.
• Technical experience in electrical, mechanical, diesel, or fusion work, depending on the business unit.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and apply sound technical judgment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and smart devices.
• Customer service experience.
• Critical-thinking and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to synthesize technical information and communicate it clearly.
• Ability to use customer experience and insight to solve problems, including novel or unexpected issues.

Additional Details

Travel requirements: 20%-80%, depending on division and location; overnight stays away from home may be required. Must be able to function in a team environment. The role usually works with direct supervision but may operate independently when needed.
