Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. seeks a Shuttle Driver to deliver full trailers to domiciliaries and return empty trailers to the distribution center. You will be responsible for inspections, securing cargo, and logging per DOT regulations.

The role requires a CDL-A and at least 1 year (50,000 miles) driving experience, with a safety-conscious approach and English literacy for clear communication and instruction.

Qualifications

• CDL-A license required.
• Minimum 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for safety and operations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the rig for defects before and after trips.
• Ensure product is secured inside the trailer for safe transport.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT regulations (Manual or PeopleNet).
• May perform line haul and/or backhaul as needed.
• Work safely to prevent injuries and product damage.

This Shuttle Driver is responsible for the delivery of full trailers to the Domicile and taking empty trailers back to the Distribution Center.

Pay Rate: Drivers are paid on a component based on experience

Dispatch time between 6am-4pm.

What you’ll do as a Shuttle Driver:

• Inspect the rig for defects pre- and post-trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Ensure that product is secured inside the trailer for undamaged transport.
• Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations.
• May at times perform line haul and/or backhaul.
• Work safely to prevent injury to people and damage to products.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you’ll bring as a Shuttle Driver Teammate:

• At least 21 years of age
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A)
• At least 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor trailer driving experience
• Meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
