Job summary

Minneapolis Plant in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a delivery driver to operate a truck or van with a capacity under 26,000 GVW, primarily delivering or picking up merchandise within a defined area.

Responsibilities include obeying traffic laws, inspecting and maintaining vehicle equipment, reporting mechanical problems, handling billing for delivered goods, loading and unloading, verifying cargo against shipping papers, and keeping logs in accordance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma.
• May require vocational training or job-related coursework.

Responsibilities

• Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
• Present bills and receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
• Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.
• Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
• Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
• Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
• Responsible for knowing and following all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures for work area and takes responsibility to assure that personal work activity is conducted in such a way so as to not affect the safety of themselves or others.
• All other duties as assigned.
