Job summary

Airgas in Abilene, TX is seeking a Local Delivery Driver (Class A) for a day-shift role. You will safely load, deliver and unload cylinders, record transactions, and ensure DOT/EPA/OSHA compliance while supporting the warehouse as needed.

Eligible candidates hold a TX Class A CDL, Hazmat and Airbrake certifications, medical card, and have CDL experience within the last five years. Benefits start after 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Valid TX Class A CDL.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake certifications required.
• No more than two traffic convictions in the last 3 years; or one conviction and one at-fault accident.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• 1 year of CDL driving in the last 5 years or trucking school completion in the last 12 months.
• Must obtain forklift operator certification.

Responsibilities

• Cylinder handling: load, deliver and unload cylinders safely at customer sites.
• Record deliveries and pickups on load manifests with customer signatures.
• Adhere to safety standards and government regulations (DOT/EPA/FMCSA/FDA/OSHA).
• Provide warehouse or dock support as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid TX Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications ar required.
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification
