Job summary

Airgas, Geismar, LA, is seeking a Local Delivery Driver (Class A w/Hazmat). You will safely deliver compressed gas cylinders from a branch, log deliveries, and ensure safety compliance while building customer relationships.

The role offers a day shift, competitive hourly pay, and full benefits with 401(k) matching and tuition assistance. The position requires a valid LA Class A CDL, Hazmat and Airbrake certifications, a Medical Examiner's Card, and at least one year of recent Class A/B driving

• Accurately record deliveries and pickups with signatures
• Adhere to SAFECOR and government safety regulations (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, OSHA)

As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

A Day in the Life of an Airgas Delivery Driver

Required Qualifications

• Valid LA Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications.
• Must have one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years.
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary safety credentials for customer site access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Forklift/Moffett).________________________
