Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a License Examiner III to administer road tests across class A–F vehicles, including motorcycles and CDL-related assessments where applicable. You will determine applicants’ readiness and safety for licensing, conduct written and practical tests, and handle required documentation.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid SC driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers road test examinations for multiple vehicle classes (A–F, M, CDL where applicable).
• Evaluates applicants’ fitness and competency to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Handles licensing documents, registrations, and related records; assists customers in person and by phone.
• Performs pre-trip inspections and maintains equipment and testing records.
• Maintains professionalism and safety in a climate-controlled office and outdoor testing environments.
