ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor driver license examiners, providing guidance and support. Conduct performance evaluations, address any personnel matters, including terminating employees when necessary, and responsible for auditing work performance in the office.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient workflow, manage scheduling, and resolve customer issues. Maintain accurate records and reporting. Responsible for the evaluation, review, and compliance with all state and federal laws regarding recording and withdrawal of driving privileges, as well as all transactions, documents, certifications, and reports of the work unit. Responsible for the intake, handling, and deposit of all funds received at the location, as well as the office administrative functions such as inventory, statements, etc.
  • Compliance: Uphold strict adherence to state statute, federal regulations and department rules and regulations regarding Driver Services activities, including but not limited to the issuance of all types of licenses, identification cards, specialty identification cards, driver enforcement, and the evaluation of clients to ensure safety of our highways and .. Stay updated on policy changes and ensure team compliance..
  • Customer Service: Foster a positive and welcoming environment for customers. Address inquiries, resolve concerns, and ensure a smooth licensing process. Responds to questions concerning state and federal policies and procedures, research driving records and provide documents to customers as needed..
  • Collaboration: Partner with law enforcement, state agencies, and community organizations to promote safe driving practices and ensure public safety. Represents the department at meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Experience: Proven supervisory experience in a customer service setting, preferably in a driver licensing or related field.
Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Proficient in record‑keeping and reporting.
Leadership: Ability to motivate, inspire, and guide a team towards achieving goals.
Knowledge
Strong understanding of the following:
  • Department rules, regulations, policies, procedures, driver licensing laws and personnel rules
  • Driver License Information System and detecting fraudulent documents
  • Medical, physical, visual, mental, and alcohol conditions as they pertain to driving
  • Types of licenses to be issued relative to the weight of the vehicle
  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers License Field Examiner
OR
Education & Experience Substitution3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers License Field Examiner
