THE POSITION

Play a key part in keeping communities safe by guiding applicants through the driver licensing process. The Driver License Examiner w/CDL for the Department of Transportation supports safe travel by evaluating driving skills and verifying identity documents. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports highway safety by evaluating driver license applicants and assisting customers at the Driver License Center. As a Driver License Examiner w/CDL, you will perform the following duties:

• Driving Evaluation: Determine applicant qualifications and assess vehicle condition for safe operation
• License Testing: Administer commercial and non commercial knowledge, pre trip, skills, and road tests
• Document Review: Examine identity documents, verify authenticity, and identify possible fraud
• Customer Processing: Provide licensing services, process applications, and issue license products
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures, attend required training, and monitor the testing environment
• Policy Adherence: Apply customer service and fee waiver policies and ensure proper documentation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
• Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel required when needed
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

• All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
• All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
• All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
• This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
