Job summary

BradyPLUS is seeking a Driver Lead to supervise transportation operations, prioritize routes, and ensure safe, on-time deliveries. You will train drivers, conduct vehicle inspections, and support the dispatch team while maintaining high customer service standards.

You will oversee daily duties, ensure DOT compliance, and collaborate with management to optimize routes and performance. This role requires leadership, reliability, and a strong safety mindset within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years driving a straight truck/box truck/CDL with 26,001+ pounds (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical certification and pass road tests.
  • Experience leading or supervising a driver team is preferred.
  • HazMat or Airbrake endorsement preferred if CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily oversight of transportation operations to prioritize routes and ensure safe, efficient deliveries.
  • Serve as a resource to drivers for training and guidance.
  • Operate a straight truck, box truck, or CMV on assigned routes.
  • Maintain documentation (BOLs, manifests, packing slips, HazMat summaries).
  • Conduct DVIRs and report vehicle issues; ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Support DOT compliance, safety training, and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers; participate in team meetings.
  • Assist with loading/unloading and warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Take ownership of customer needs with speed and high service levels.

Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Driver Lead to join our growing team. This role supports and leads transportation operations, completing accurate and timely deliveries while maintaining safety and customer service standards. The Lead also supports the operations management team with oversight of daily transportation duties such as driver road tests, training new hires, DOT compliance, leading team huddles, and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily oversight of transportation operations, ensuring routes and deliveries are prioritized and completed safely and efficiently.
  • Act as a resource to Drivers for training and guidance.
  • Operate a straight truck, box truck, or CMV (26,001+ pounds) to transport products to customer locations on the assigned delivery route.
  • Learn and optimize routes, ensure correct order fulfillment, and maintain proper documentation (BOLs, manifests, packing slips, HazMat summaries).
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections (DVIR), report issues immediately, and maintain cleanliness inside and out of the assigned vehicle.
  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and company policies, complete required safety training and properly handle HazMat materials.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management, attend department meetings, and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Wear company apparel as required, maintain a neat appearance and effectively communicate with dispatcher and customers.
  • Take personal ownership of all customer needs with speed and urgency. Maintain the highest level of customer service.
  • Assist with preparing orders, loading/unloading, stocking inventory, and general warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a route delivery driver operating a straight truck, box truck, or CMV (26,001+ pounds).
  • Experience as a team lead or supervisor (preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving history.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical certification and pass a road test.
  • Prior forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Excellent customer service, communication skills and leadership qualities.
  • Basic computer skills to operate transportation systems, dispatch applications or perform data entry tasks.
  • Basic math skills to verify orders or reconcile delivery documents.
  • HazMat or Airbrake Endorsement, preferred (if CDL).
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines and work overtime as needed.
  • Physical Requirements: ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 100 lbs; ability to walk, climb, kneel, stoop, and balance frequently.
Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $27.00 - $29.00 per hour. This range reflects the company’s expectation based on current market data, internal equity, and other factors. Compensation may vary depending on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations.
