Job summary

MTM Transit in Tehachapi, CA seeks a Driver to provide safe and reliable trolley operation in partnership with Kern Transit. You will ensure courteous, professional service while complying with client and company procedures.

Starting pay is $19.89/hour, with requirements including California CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsements. The role emphasizes safe driving, mobility assistance, on-time performance, and strong customer service for diverse riders, including older adults and individuals

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must have valid U.S. Driver’s license for past 5 years.
• Must have and maintain a valid California Class B CDL w/passenger endorsements.
• No felonies within 5 years involving moral turpitude or narcotics.
• No DUI/DWI in past 7 years and not more than 2 in lifetime.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and reliable transportation.
• Demonstrate defensive driving skills.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist with passenger loading and unloading.
• Assist with mobility device safety and securement.
• Ensure on-time pick-up and drop-off.
• Understand needs of older adults and people with disabilities.
• Complete vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections; DVIs as required.
• Complete paperwork and use tablets as required.

What will your job look like? In partnership with Kern Transit the Driver is responsible for providing Trolley Operation services in a safe and reliable manner. The Driver will ensure the customer and client receive the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism. This work is done in compliance with the procedures defined by the client and in conformance with company procedures.

Location: Tehachapi, CA

Service: Kern Transit

Starting Pay Rate: $19.89/hour

Required Credentials: California CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsements

What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)

• Provide safe and reliable transportation
• Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
• Must assist with passenger loading and unloading from vehicle
• Must assist with any mobility device and securement as required for safety protocols
• Ensure the on-time pick-up and drop off of the customer
• Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities
• Complete thorough vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections as required
• Complete paperwork as required
• Utilize tablets or electronic devices as required

What We’re Looking For (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two-way radio, or other electronic device
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• Ability to communicate with others and comprehend instructions
• Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules
• Ability to obtain knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations
• Familiarity with the main roadways and major highways in the service area

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have valid U.S. Driver’s license for past 5 years
• Must have and maintain a valid California Class B CDL w/passenger endorsements
• No felony convictions involving moral turpitude or narcotics within previous five (5) years
• No Reckless Driving or driving with a suspended license within the past 7 years and no more than 2 in a lifetime
• No DUI or DWI convictions
• Possess valid authorization to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and pre-employment drug screening
• Must pass criminal background check and investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check
