Job summary

Front Porch Communities & Services is hiring a Driver II (Temporary Position) at Wesley Palms Retirement Community in San Diego. The role offers full-time hours from 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as needed, driving residents to local and distant destinations and supporting activities. The candidate should hold a California Class A or B license with passenger endorsement and have at least 1 year of commercial driving experience, with a focus on safety and service.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to local or distant points according to the schedule.
• Provide quality customer service to residents, families, coworkers and vendors.
• Drive bus, van or car on scheduled routes and for special events.
• Assist residents getting on/off vehicle and loading packages as needed.
• Perform safety checks, pre-trip/post-trip inspections and report any vehicle issues.

Wesley Palms Retirement Community is Hiring! Driver II (Temporary Position)

Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Summary

Qualified commercial driver transports passengers in a bus/van or car to local or distant points according to times scheduled by performing the following duties.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Driver II
• Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.
• Drives bus, van or car to transport residents and guests over a specified route according to assigned time schedule.
• Drives bus, van or car to transport passengers for special events and activities to local or distant points for activity department as needed.
• Assists residents on and off the vehicle as required; assists with loading packages on and off the bus as needed.
• Maintains contact with residents in order to schedule, confirm, and adjust appointments as needed.
• Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for resident comfort; inspects bus daily before departure by using a pre‑trip/post‑trip inspection form.
• Ensures the vehicle is in good operating order and reports any problems to supervisor.
• Routinely cleans interior and exterior of bus and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants and accessories.
• Follows and is well aware of all laws and procedures for operating a commercial vehicle.
• Reports delays or accidents and any safety hazards to supervisor.
• Maintains current service records of all vehicles in the fleet; keeps records pertaining to daily inspections, routing, CHP inspections and mileage computations.
• Follows department safety standards, practices body‑mechanic techniques and participates in campus‑wide safety programs.
• Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner; wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job.
• Attends all mandatory in‑service meetings and complies with all department and facilities policies and procedures.
• Front Porch is committed to the prevention of accidents by providing equipment with safeguards, personal safety equipment on jobs which require it, and adequate safety instructions to all employees.
• All employees are required to follow safe work habits to prevent injuries to themselves, residents, visitors or other employees.
• Enrolled in mandatory commercial drivers random drug testing program.
• California DMV Pull notice program.

Credentials

• Class A or B California driver's license with passenger endorsement.

Education

• High School diploma or GED.

Experience

• 1+ year of commercial driver experience, transporting passengers in a bus/van, including ADA passengers.
