Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Driver's Helper in Maryland to assist the driver with loading and unloading the truck, navigating to deliveries, and supporting daily route execution. The role requires reading maps, geographic awareness, and the ability to lift heavy loads while delivering friendly customer service.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm, with benefits including medical, vision, 401k with company match, and paid time off. Bonus eligible and Safety-focused work environment.

Qualifications

• High School or better
• Ability to read a map and geographic knowledge of the area
• Ability to lift 75 lbs unassisted
• Must possess good customer service skills
• Able to work as part of a team to load/unload and assist driver

Responsibilities

• Load and unload the truck for the daily route
• Scan daily route onto the truck
• Assist driver with navigating to deliveries
• Assist driver with carrying freight to a business or residence destination
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Read maps and have geographic knowledge of the area
• Operate pallet jacks and forklifts as needed

Job description

The driver’s helper is responsible for assisting the driver in all day-to-day activities. this includes but is not limited to loading and unloading the truck, along with any other duties the driver may need.

Essential Functions

• Accurately load the daily route onto the truck
• Scan daily route onto the truck
• Assist driver with navigating to deliveries
• Assist driver with carrying freight to a business or residence destination
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to read a map and general geographic knowledge of the area
• Ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted
• Must possess good customer service skills

Monday- Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods. Position requires employees to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands, reach, bend, and lift objects above their heads. Employees must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and use pallet jacks and forklifts. The position requires regular use of a phone and a PC and reading and writing of various shipping documents.
