Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Driver Helper to assist the driver with loading, unloading, and delivering freight across routes. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment.

You will read maps, follow detailed instructions, and help navigate to destinations, while handling weights up to 75 lbs and operating pallet jacks or forklifts as required. This position requires reliable hands-on work and a commitment to punctuality and customer service.

Job description

Driver Helper Role

The driver’s helper is responsible for assisting the driver in all day‑to‑day activities, including but not limited to loading and unloading the truck, handling freight, and performing any other duties the driver may need.

Essential Functions

• Accurately load the daily route onto the truck
• Scan daily route onto the truck
• Assist driver with navigating to deliveries
• Assist driver with carrying freight to a business or residence destination
• Utilize manifest to pull route, stage freight, and assist drivers in loading and unloading trucks
• Material handling may include picking, packing, scanning, kitting (as applicable), counting products and other duties
• Ensure timeliness, packaging, and systems work is completed accurately
• Identify and annotate overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D)
• Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, etc.
• Read and follow detailed instructions in a fast‑paced environment
• Ensure safe and secure work environment including TSA and OSHA guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, using hands, reaching, bending, and lifting objects above their heads. Employees must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and use pallet jacks and forklifts. The position requires regular use of a phone, PC, and reading and writing of shipping documents.

Pay Range

$18 to $18.50 per hour

Monday through Friday

7 am Start time

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
