Circular Services in Austin, TX, is seeking a Driver Helper to support the driver with loading bins and materials, ensuring safe handling and compliance with procedures. You will assist with loading/unloading recyclable materials, adhering to safety guidelines, and providing customer service to residents and businesses, with opportunities for growth

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, vests, boots, and eye/ear protection.

Responsibilities

  • Ride along on recycling routes with driver and assist with loading/unloading materials.
  • Load and unload recyclable materials (paper, plastics, glass, metals).
  • Ensure proper handling of bins and prevent spills or damage.
  • Assist with route navigation and ensure all stops are completed.
  • Provide courteous customer service to residents or businesses.
  • Follow safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Report route issues or hazards promptly.
  • Complete equipment cleanup at the end of each shift.

About the Role

The Driver Helper assists the driver by safely loading bins and materials onto the truck, ensuring proper organization and safety procedures. This role involves heavy lifting, walking, and working in various weather conditions. Key duties include route navigation, performing physical labor, adhering to safety guidelines, and maintaining a clean work area.

Responsibilities
  • Ride along assigned recycling collection routes with driver.
  • Load and unload recyclable materials, (such as paper, plastics, glass, metals).
  • Ensure proper handling of bins, carts, and containers to prevent spills or damage.
  • Identify and separate non-recyclable materials when necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to residents’ or businesses’ questions courteously.
  • Assist with navigating routes and ensuring all stops are completed.
  • Comply with safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Report any route issues, accidents, or hazards to the driver or supervisor, promptly.
  • Processing equipment cleanup at the end of each shift.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the use of basic Personal Protective Equipment like a hard hat, reflective vest, steel toe boots, ear and eye protection, utility gloves, and arm preferred.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an industrial recycling facility preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Normal work environment is a recycling plant, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

  • Required to use motor coordination with arms, hands, fingers, and legs.

  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
  • Normal setting for this job is material recycle facilities, repair/maintenance facility outdoors or other facilities.
