Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet in Houston, TX, seeks a dedicated Delivery Driver to deliver seafood, beef, poultry, and gourmet products while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities include pre-trip checks, safety inspections, loading/unloading, verifying deliveries with customers, and following DOT/HACCP guidelines to keep perishable items at proper temperatures. Long shifts may be required with a focus on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years driving experience preferred.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license.
• Basic English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip responsibilities including checking route numbers and account numbers.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections.
• Drive and deliver orders along predetermined routes and ensure the vehicle is secured.
• Load and unload products using dolly or other devices safely.
• Verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures.
• Communicate issues to management during the day.
• Handle post-delivery tasks such as returns and paperwork.
• Follow DOT and HACCP regulations during operation of the truck and handling of product.
• Monitor temperature-controlled vehicles to maintain product quality.
• Maintain customer satisfaction and report complaints to supervisor.
• Collect payments and record transactions securely.
• Ensure safety training is up to date and support fleet maintenance records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Delivery Driver will deliver and unload various company products, including, but not limited to, seafood, beef, poultry, and gourmet products. The employee will act as key point of contact with the customer, and in so doing will provide the highest levels of customer service. The incumbent will ensure that high safety standards are always maintained while operating Fortune Fish and Gourmet’s vehicle. Moreover, the utmost care will be applied in handling the company’s perishable products in accordance with HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Perform all pre-trip responsibilities to include checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries.
• Perform necessary vehicle safety inspections for vehicle.
• Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route. Ensure vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs.
• Load and unload products from vehicle using dolly or other appropriate devices safely.
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of product.
• Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the workday.
• Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product, customer returns, and complete any necessary documents.
• Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during the operation of the truck and handling of product.
• Monitor and ensure that temperature-controlled vehicles maintain required temperature limits to ensure product quality.
• Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and by demonstrating an interest in the customer’s needs. Report any complaints to Supervisor.
• Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices. Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured.
• Ensure that safety training is current as per company policy.
• Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience – One to two years of driving experience. Transportation of temperature-controlled product experience preferred.
• Customer Service – Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.
• Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision.
• Licensing - Must have a valid state driver’s license.
• Environmental – Available to work long shifts.
• Language – Basic English-speaking proficiency.
• A combination of the above will also be considered.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving
• Regularly be able to lift up to 80 pounds; may occasionally need to lift over 80 pounds
• Requires constant mental and visual attention, as well as ability to see well in limited light scenarios

• Must be able to successfully pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification
