Job summary

Healthy Heart Foods is seeking an experienced, hands-on Fleet Manager to oversee our commercial delivery fleet. This is an operational role; you will work in the trenches with trucks, drivers, and maintenance to keep deliveries on schedule.

You will drive company trucks when needed, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance, manage driver schedules and hours, and ensure DOT compliance. This is an in-person role based in New York.

Qualifications

  • Commercial truck driving experience required.
  • Must be willing and able to drive company trucks.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • CDL preferred where applicable.
  • Experience with DOT and DMV requirements.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operation and readiness of the vehicle fleet.
  • Manage maintenance, repairs, towing, and rentals.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules for each vehicle.
  • Coordinate with mechanics, shops, and rental companies.
  • Monitor fleet costs, utilization, and driver performance.
  • Ensure DOT and other regulatory compliance.

Full job description. Healthy Heart Foods is seeking an experienced, hands-on Fleet Manager to oversee our commercial delivery fleet.. . This is an operational position, not a desk-only management role. We are looking for someone who understands trucks, drivers, maintenance, and the day-to-day challenges of keeping a busy delivery fleet on the road.. . Candidates must have commercial truck driving experience and be willing and able to drive company trucks when needed.. . Responsibilities. . Manage the day-to-day operation and readiness of the company vehicle fleet.. Take full ownership of all vehicle maintenance, repairs, breakdowns, towing, and rentals.. Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for every vehicle.. Coordinate repairs with mechanics, dealerships, body shops, refrigeration technicians, towing companies, and other vendors.. Track vehicles that are out of service and actively manage their return to operation.. Arrange rental or replacement vehicles when needed to prevent interruptions to deliveries.. Review repair estimates, recommendations, and invoices.. Monitor tires, brakes, oil changes, inspections, liftgates, refrigeration systems, and other vehicle maintenance requirements.. Maintain an accurate record of the condition and status of every vehicle.. Work closely with dispatch and operations to ensure enough trucks are available for daily routes.. Drive company delivery trucks when operational needs require it, including emergencies, driver call-outs, moving vehicles, or other situations.. Collaborate with management and HR in interviewing and evaluating driver candidates.. Participate in road tests and help determine whether prospective drivers have the appropriate driving skills and judgment.. Assist with driver onboarding, training, and safety procedures.. Coordinate driver schedules with dispatch and operations, and monitor driver hours, attendance, overtime, and Hours of Service compliance where applicable.. Monitor driver performance, accidents, violations, vehicle care, and compliance with company procedures.. Ensure drivers properly complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.. Maintain vehicle registrations, inspections, insurance documentation, permits, and other required records.. Help ensure compliance with applicable DOT, DMV, insurance, and commercial vehicle requirements.. Investigate accidents and coordinate documentation, insurance claims, towing, and repairs.. Monitor GPS/fleet-management systems, mileage, vehicle utilization, and driver behavior.. Monitor fleet expenses including repairs, maintenance, rentals, towing, fuel, and other costs.. Identify opportunities to reduce vehicle downtime and unnecessary fleet expenses.. Recommend when vehicles should be repaired, replaced, rented, or removed from service.. Qualifications. . Commercial truck driving experience required.. Must be willing and able to drive company trucks as needed.. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.. CDL preferred where applicable.. Previous fleet management, fleet maintenance, transportation management, or similar experience.. Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.. Experience working with mechanics, repair shops, dealerships, towing companies, and rental companies.. Experience supervising, interviewing, training, or evaluating drivers.. Knowledge of DOT, DMV, commercial vehicle, and driver safety requirements.. Strong organizational and follow-up skills.. Comfortable using GPS/fleet-management software, spreadsheets, and other technology.. Ability to troubleshoot problems and make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment.. Our goal is simple: safe, reliable trucks available every day so our customers receive their deliveries on time.. . Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year. . Work Location: In person
