Driver - Cylinder

Location: Newark, NJ

Our Driver - Cylinder Handlers are responsible for safely and efficiently operating a local route delivery vehicle to deliver hard goods, compressed gas cylinders, and related products to customer locations. This role involves effective communication with customers, responding to their needs, and operating the delivery vehicle in compliance with company and DOT guidelines.

Responsibilities include filling, labeling, and preparing low-pressure packaged gas cylinders, operating and maintaining cryogenic liquid filling systems. The role is physically demanding, requiring attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.

Pay Range: $24.17 - $35.46 per hour, depending on experience.

What you will be doing: (1st Shift, CDL A or B)

• Providing high-quality customer service during delivery, including unloading products, moving them to the customer's point of use, and reloading empty cylinders onto the vehicle.
• Driving constitutes approximately 30% of the workday; the rest involves delivery, cylinder handling, shipping paperwork, customer contact, vehicle inspections, and maintenance.
• Accurately counting and recording quantities and styles of products delivered and picked up.
• Completing hazardous material shipping documentation in accordance with DOT/TC regulations.
• Placing hazard labels on vehicles as per hazardous material regulations and company standards.
• Conducting and reporting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Identifying vehicle repair or maintenance needs and ensuring timely repairs.
• Processing medical and industrial gas cylinders following established guidelines and procedures.
• Performing visual, physical, and odor tests on cylinders before filling, determining if retesting or repairs are needed.
• Checking cylinder quantities, styles, and products, and filling as necessary.
• Loading and unloading product from weekly shuttle trucks.
• Operating and maintaining cylinder scales and related equipment.
• Preparing warehouse transfer orders and related paperwork, recording filled quantities, styles, and products to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Completing and maintaining quality control documentation per company and governmental procedures.
• Operating forklifts and other plant vehicles.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
