SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in San Diego, CA shipyard related subcontractor looking to hire a Driver.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Driver responsible for transporting coworkers or equipment in a timely manner, and they may have to work nights and weekends to accomplish their duties. Common qualifications and skills for drivers are to:

Must be in San Diego, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.

Qualifications:

• A valid CDL class A license
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently (tank and hazardous)
• Must have tanker endorsement, transporting liquid or gas loads
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily
• Must be able to effectively operate a manual transmission
• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
• Report any issues, stay on top of necessary maintenance
• Interior and exterior cleanliness of the car

Minimum DOT Requirements for CDL Truck Drivers

• Have a valid, non-commercial driver's license.
• Be at least 18 years old, or at least 21 to drive across state lines or carry hazardous materials.
• Have a minimum of one to two years of driving experience.
• Have no active suspensions.
• Have a valid medical examiner's certificate.

• Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
• Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions
• Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road construction, as needed
• Must be able to work weekdays overtime

Skills:

• Proven experience as a Driver
• A valid driver's license
• A clean driving records
• Familiarity with GPS devices
• Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
• Ability to lift heavy equipment
• A polite and professional communication
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred
• Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• This position is labor intensive, requires lifting, loading and pushing/pulling more than 45 pounds repeatedly during work hours
• It also requires reaching, squatting, and bending
• The Operator must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely

Other requirements:

All positions require a pre-employment medical test. Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards
