Job summary

SA Recycling has multiple openings for experienced Class A truck drivers in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Drivers operate semi-trucks to move materials from supplier locations to processing facilities and backhaul empty containers.

Local routes mean drivers are home each night, with opportunities for advancement. Responsibilities include performing inspections, securing cargo, communicating issues to management, and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class A CDL and be able to pass a DOT physical.
• Federally required FMCSA/DOT regulations compliance.
• Experience with heavy haul, roll-off and end-dump trailers is a plus.
• Moving violations: candidates may not have more than 2 in past 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.
• Transport and deliver materials to SA Recycling facilities as directed by dispatch.
• Secure cargo with chains, straps, binders, and/or tarps.
• Communicate safety or equipment issues to management.
• Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal and inspect metal grades for inventory.

SA Recycling has multiple openings for experienced Class A truck drivers in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The Truck Driver's main goal is to move material where we need it. They are required to drive a semi-truck to customers' yards and collect fully loaded containers and return to them empty containers. Drivers must conduct themselves professionally when dealing with customers and their employees. They follow all DOT regulations, in-yard rules for driving in close quarters and all traffic controllers.

Our drivers are the face of the Company and safely transport metals for recycling from supplier locations to our processing facilities. We operate semi and straight chassis trucks utilizing dump bodies, flat beds, dry vans, roll-off boxes, lugger boxes and three-sided car trailers.

Runs are local routes and drivers are home each night.

Responsibilities Of a Driver

• Responsible for pre and post trip inspections of all tractors and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Transport and deliver materials from suppliers to SA Recycling facilities as directed by dispatch.
• Secure all cargo for transport using chains, straps, binders, and/or tarps.
• Communicate any safety or equipment issues with management.
• Operate effectively and safely on all staging areas, parking surfaces, and roads.
• Maintain all required logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair status.
• Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal.
• Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
• Communicates with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
• Works independently when driving scrap metal.
• Works with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
• Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform normal daily operation maintenance refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning and housekeeping.
• Clean up work area at the end of the shift.
• Keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space.
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Of a Driver

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License; heavy haul, roll-off and end-dump trailer experience a plus.
• Prefer three (3) plus years’ commercial driving experience.
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission.
• Minimum 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical, meet all qualifications of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and pass a background check.
• Must be registered in Clearinghouse as required by FMCSR.

Candidates may not have more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years for consideration.

• Equipment & Tools: Trucks up to 18 wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, box containers, mechanics tools
• Physical Demand Level: Light to moderate, keeps steady when machine is rocking in all directions, climbing fixed ladders
