Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking Class A Drivers to safely transport metals from supplier locations to processing facilities. This local route is home daily with familiar paths, using various chassis trucks and equipment. You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.

Ideal candidates have a Class A CDL, 3+ years of driving experience, and a clean FMCSA record. Expect a physically active role, adherence to safety protocols, and opportunities for advancement

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• 3+ years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must pass DOT physical and FMCSR background checks.
• Clearinghouse registration required.
• No more than 2 moving violations in past 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; maintain logs per DOT.
• Transport metals from supplier to processing facilities.
• Secure cargo properly for transport.
• Report safety or equipment issues to management.
• Operate trucks safely on various surfaces and staging areas.
• Keep vehicles clean and presentable.
• Wear PPE as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

SA Recycling, an industry leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is looking for Class A Drivers to join our team. Our drivers are the face of the Company and safely transport metals for recycling from supplier locations to our processing facilities and operate different semi and straight chassis trucks utilizing dump bodies, flat beds, dry vans, roll-off boxes, lugger boxes and three-sided car trailers, depending on business needs and licensing. This position is local, home daily, and runs familiar routes.

Responsibilities Of a Driver

• Responsible for pre and post trip inspections of all company owned and operated trucks and maintain all required logs of driving hours and vehicle service and repair status in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Pick up material from supplier locations and deliver to SA Recycling and customer locations as directed by dispatch.
• Properly secure all cargo for transport using the appropriate methods.
• Communicate any safety or equipment issues with management.
• Operate effectively and safely on all staging areas, parking surfaces, and roads.
• Must keep vehicles clean and organized and present the best impression to the public.
• Use personal protective equipment as required by SA Recycling, its customers, and as required by the type of material being transported.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Of a Driver

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Three (3) plus years’ commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission preferred.
• Minimum 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical, meet all qualifications of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and pass a background check.
• Must be registered in Clearinghouse as required by FMCSR.
• Candidates may not have more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years for consideration.

Physical Requirements:

• Work Environment: Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard
• Equipment & Tools: Trucks up to 18 wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, box containers, mechanics tools
• Physical Demand Level: Light to moderate, keeps steady when machine is rocking in all directions, climbing fixed ladders
• Work Capacity: Truck Driver Work Capacity
• Sensory Demands: Hearing, vision, touch, smell and taste
• Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping
