Job summary

Rockdale County is seeking a Driver/Center Aide to support transportation services, ceramics, and senior center programs. The role includes operating a 24-passenger bus for fixed routes and demand-response trips, and assisting with Meals-on-Wheels, events, and meals service.

Qualified applicants will have a GA Class C license (CDL within six months), CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to lift 60+ pounds. This on-site position supports seniors and community programs in Rockdale County.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Georgia driver's license; Class C CDL or obtain within 6 months.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Combination of education, training and work experience equivalent to above.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ceramics program and equipment.
• Cover daily fixed route transportation; drive 24 passenger bus as needed.
• Schedule and transport demand-response clients to appointments.
• Assist with Senior Center events and programs.
• Deliver Meals-on-Wheels when needed.
• Chaperone on group shopping trips and charters.
• Assist with meal preparation and service.

Job Summary

This position assists with ceramics room, demand response and daily fixed route transportation, group shopping, senior outings, Meals-On-Wheels delivery, Congregate Meals, and special senior center day and evening programs.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the ceramics program and maintains the ceramic work area and equipment.
• Covers daily fixed route transportation when needed. Drives 24 passenger bus as needed.
• Schedules and transports demand-response transportation clients to doctor's appointments.
• Assists Senior Services Manager and Transportation Coordinator with special events and Senior Center programs.
• Delivers Meals-on-Wheels when needed.
• Works as chaperone on scheduled group shopping trips and charters.
• Assists with meal preparation and service.

Additional Duties

Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the geography of Rockdale County, including roads and street addresses.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written communications.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others including staff, vendors, clients, and volunteers.
• Ability to lift more than 60 pounds.
• Ability to transport seniors in large passenger vans.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, see, smell, taste, hear, and speak in order to perform a variety of job tasks.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in a vehicle, the ceramics room, kitchen, and dining room settings.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. OR have a combination of education, training and work experience that is equivalent to #1 above that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
3. Valid State of Georgia driver's license. Must possess a Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
4. CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Preference

1. Six (6) months of experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle.
