Job Details: Job Location: Elk Grove, CA 95624, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $23.00 - $25.00 Hourly, Job Shift: AM, The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of residents to medical appointments, community outings, recreational events, and other scheduled activities. This position plays a vital role in enhancing residents' quality of life by providing safe, courteous, and dependable transportation services while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, Department of Transportation (DOT), and community regulations. The CDL Driver demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and respect while assisting older adults and residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities. [

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents and staff to and from medical appointments, shopping trips, community outings, and scheduled activities.
• Ensure residents are transported in a safe, dignified, and courteous manner.
• Escort residents into and out of medical offices and other facilities when required.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicles, including the safe handling of mobility devices, wheelchairs, and walkers.
• Follow established transportation schedules and maintain punctuality.
• Ensure all passengers are properly secured before vehicle operation.
• Observe all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company driving policies.

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain accurate mileage logs, vehicle inspection reports, maintenance records, and transportation documentation.
• Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and maintained in safe operating condition at all times.
• Report vehicle concerns immediately.
• Maintain compliance with all bus and vehicle licensing, inspection, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure community vehicles remain professional in appearance and free from unauthorized personal items.

Resident Care and Customer Service

• Promote positive resident experiences through courteous and respectful interactions.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
• Demonstrate patience and understanding when working with residents experiencing cognitive impairment, memory loss, or mobility limitations.
• Assist with resident activities and outings as directed by the Programs Director.
• Participate as a member of the Programs team to support resident engagement and quality of life initiatives.

Administrative and Operational Responsibilities

• Maintain current driver's license, required endorsements, and DOT medical certification.
• Participate in required DOT random drug and alcohol testing programs.
• Monitor transportation schedules through designated scheduling platforms.
• Report incidents, injuries, accidents, vehicle damage, resident concerns, and safety issues immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and company information.
• Adhere to all policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and community standards.

Additional Duties

• Assist with department projects and community events as assigned.
• Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Programs Director or Executive Director.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a clean DMV record and possess a Class C, B, or A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. A good driving record must be maintained. Must be in constant contact with facility at all times. Must be flexible, punctual, and dependable and have ability to comply with sometimes-heavy transportation schedule.
• Must be enrolled in DOT random substance and alcohol testing. Sensitivity and caring for the elderly.
• For communities licensed for sixteen (16) to forty-nine (49) persons: Must have at least six (6) months experience in providing planned activities or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.
• For communities licensed for fifty (50) or more persons: Must have one (1) year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs, supervising other employees and in training volunteers. These requirements may be waived if an exception to this requirement is made by the licensing agency upon the community’s written presentation of a satisfactory alternative plan. Prefer one (1) year of experience.
