Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver must ensure their vehicle complies with safety standards before operation, adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any vehicle defects promptly.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues accordingly.
2. Safely operate the truck along designated routes and disposal sites, following route sheets, maps, and instructions from dispatchers or supervisors.
3. Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift, load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected waste at designated facilities.
4. Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure timely and professional service.
5. Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers per departmental procedures.
6. Monitor waste quality, ensuring no unacceptable waste is collected.
7. Handle waste spills safely, adhering to safety policies.
8. Maintain vehicle readiness by monitoring condition, cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body after disposal trips.
9. Complete required reports, including route/productivity sheets and VCRs.
10. Meet departmental productivity standards to ensure efficient service delivery.
11. Follow all safety policies and participate actively in the ReSOP program.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating professionalism, punctuality, adherence to policies, and a pride in work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
