Job summary

Core & Main LP, based in St. Louis, is seeking a Class A commercial driver to join our team in Texas. The role focuses on delivering products, maintaining safety, and evaluating customer interactions and loading/unloading procedures.

You will perform pre‑trip/post‑trip inspections, plan routes, assist warehouse staff, and ensure compliance with DOT standards. A CDL, one year driving experience, forklift experience, and ability to operate a manual transmission are required.

Qualifications

• Current Class A CDL with endorsements as required (HazMat if needed).
• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience compliant with FMCSA/DOT.
• Forklift experience.
• Experience operating a manual transmission.
• Strong commitment to driving safety and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products to customers, including unloading and ensuring delivery of ticket with material.
• Load truck with daily deliveries and unload product at the customer’s site.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after each route.
• Fuel the truck as needed and resolve any customer service issues.
• Comply with all DOT standards and regulations.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs and bills of lading.
• Plan route to and from customers’ businesses, adjusting for traffic and/or construction.
• Ensure that manifests are complete and accurate.
• Assist warehouse staff with pulling and preparing orders for shipment, receiving, verifying, staging, and stocking all incoming material.

Requirements

• Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License issued by the state in which the candidate resides, with all relevant endorsements (e.g., HazMat placarding if required).
• At least one year of commercial driving experience compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
• Forklift experience.
• On‑job experience operating a manual transmission.
• Strong commitment to driving safety and the ability to adjust quickly to changing customer and delivery priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience loading/unloading piping products such as lumber, steel, or building materials.
• Experience making job‑site deliveries.
