Ritter Lumber is seeking a CDL Class A/B Driver to transport lumber, millwork, and building materials to customer locations. You will ensure safe operations, proper cargo securement, and timely deliveries while adhering to DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Delivery Operations: Safely operate CDL Class A or B vehicles to transport lumber and building materials to customer sites.
• Load Securement: Properly secure all materials using straps according to FMCSA guidelines.
• Receiving & Material Handling: Assist with loading/unloading materials using forklifts and coordinate with warehouse staff.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to DOT/FMCSA rules, including hours-of-service and inspections; maintain credentials.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain delivery logs and compliance paperwork, submit to Delivery Manager.
• Customer Service: Represent the company professionally at job sites; verify orders and assist customers.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and yard teams to maintain schedules.

Job Summary:

The CDL Class A/B Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of lumber, millwork, and building materials to customer locations and job sites. This role plays a critical part in supporting delivery operations, maintaining compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, and ensuring a professional customer experience. Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the CDL Driver works closely with warehouse, inventory, and dispatch teams to execute timely and accurate deliveries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence within the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery Operations:

Safely operate CDL Class A or B vehicles, including fork trucks and moffetts, to transport LBM and millwork products to customer sites. Ensure timely and complete deliveries in alignment with company standards.

Load Securement:

Properly secure all materials using straps and approved cargo securement techniques in accordance with FMCSA guidelines. Verify load stability and safety before departure.

Receiving & Material Handling:

Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts and other equipment. Follow approved safety procedures and coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure order accuracy.

Regulatory Compliance:

Adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours-of-service, vehicle inspections, and safe driving practices. Maintain current CDL credentials and required certifications.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Report any maintenance issues promptly and ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and road-ready.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate delivery logs, trip records, and compliance paperwork. Submit required documentation to the Delivery Manager in a timely manner.

Customer Service:

Represent the company professionally at job sites and customer locations. Assist with unloading, verify order accuracy, and address customer questions or concerns courteously.

Team Collaboration:

Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and yard teams to ensure smooth delivery operations. Communicate proactively to resolve issues and maintain delivery schedules.

Qualifications:

Licensing:

Valid CDL Class A or B license required.

Experience:

Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and moffetts, preferably within the lumber and building materials industry.

Skills:

Strong safety awareness, time management, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures.

Technical Proficiency:

Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations, cargo securement standards, and basic vehicle maintenance practices.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor environments.
