The State of Indiana, through IDHS, seeks a Driver and Maintenance Specialist to support the Indiana Fire Academy by delivering training props to fire departments and maintaining equipment across the state.
A CDL is required for this role. You will coordinate and load equipment for transport, assist with maintenance, and travel to exercise sites to support state-wide training programs.

About the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS):
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) leads Indiana's emergency planning and operations, first responder training, and fire and building safety. The Indiana State Fire Marshal leads the Division of Fire and Building Safety (within IDHS), which oversees the enforcement of building codes and includes a fire investigations unit. The agency certifies and trains thousands of first responders and also hosts state-level exercises each year. IDHS also supports the state Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which leads response and coordination efforts for large-magnitude incidents.
Role Overview:
As a Driver and Maintenance Specialist, you will support the Indiana Fire Academy in its mission to deliver high‑quality training resources to fire departments across the state. The person in this role will coordinate and deliver Fire Academy props to requesting departments, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment. They will also assist with annual equipment maintenance and inventory, helping to keep all training assets in good working condition. Additionally, this role supports preparation of equipment loads for delivery, ensuring materials are organized, safe, and ready for transport.
A CDL is required for this position.
Salary Statement:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $27.29 but may be commensurate with education and work experience.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
