Job summary

Miami Job Corps Center is seeking a dependable Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students in Miami Gardens, FL. This full-time role requires maintaining vehicle records, conducting inspections, and assisting with maintenance and safety operations across the Center.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma and a valid Florida driver’s license. CDL is preferred; experience with youth is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and reliable transportation services for students as required.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and promptly report safety concerns or maintenance needs.
• Maintain required vehicle records and documentation in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Schedule and deliver vehicles for preventive maintenance and necessary repairs.
• Assist the Safety & Security Department in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and security checks of facilities and equipment.
• Assist with accident investigations, documentation, and required reports.
• Respond to emergency situations and requests.
• Assist with visitor control, student accountability, and supervision.
• Support residential, recreation, transportation, and other Center operations as needed.
• Maintain security and cleanliness of facilities, property, and vehicles.
• Collaborate with staff across departments to ensure effective supervision and quality services.
• Serve as a positive role model and reinforce Career Success Standards.
• Treat students with respect and maintain accountability and behavior expectations.

This position plays an important role in providing safe and reliable transportation for students while helping maintain a secure, positive, and supportive Center environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provide safe and reliable transportation services for students as required.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and promptly report safety concerns or maintenance needs.
• Maintain required vehicle records and documentation in accordance with DOL and Company requirements.
• Schedule and deliver vehicles for preventive maintenance and necessary repairs.
• Assist the Safety & Security Department in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, security tours, and assessments of Center facilities and equipment.
• Assist with accident and incident investigations, documentation, and required reports.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and requests.
• Assist with visitor control, student accountability, and supervision.
• Support residential, recreation, transportation, and other Center operations as needed.
• Maintain the security and cleanliness of Center facilities, property, and assigned vehicles.
• Work collaboratively with staff across departments to ensure students receive effective supervision and quality services.
• Serve as a positive role model by mentoring students and reinforcing Career Success Standards.
• Treat students with respect and courtesy while maintaining appropriate expectations for accountability and behavior.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License that is maintained throughout employment.
• Ability to meet Company insurability requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students and staff.

Preferred:

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Previous experience working with youth.
• Advanced education or degree.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the ability to perform activities including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, stooping, crouching, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds or appropriately assess a load and request assistance when necessary.
